Contact and Next Steps
- 01Thread Lab specialize in invisible mending and high-end garment repair. We primarily focus on repairing holes, tears, and worn areas. We do not offer services for hemming, alterations, or remakes.
- 02Invisible mending is a specialized textile restoration process where damaged fabric is carefully reconstructed by hand using matching threads. Unlike patches or ordinary stitching, the goal is to restore the original weave as closely as possible.IMPORTANT:French Weaving is a highly specialized restoration process. The final appearance depends on the original fabric, colour, weave, age, damage and condition. We cannot promise 100% invisible repairs. Our commitment is to provide a technically appropriate restoration with the highest practical level of visual integration. Each garment/saree is individually assessed before a quotation is provided.
- 03Visible Mending is about repair that can be seen as part of the piece’s character, while Invisible Mending aims to blend the repair more seamlessly into the fabric. Thread Lab offers both approaches, so the right choice depends on the look you want for the item.
- 04We cannot promise 100% invisibility for every repair. Results vary based on fabric type, color, weave, age, damage severity, and thread availability. While many repairs blend seamlessly, some may still be slightly noticeable under close inspection.

- 08Most projects require approximately 7–21 working days, depending on complexity.Large heirloom or bridal garments may require additional time.
- 09If you are deciding between visible and invisible repair, Thread Lab’s site suggests reviewing the service pages to understand the approach and aesthetic of each method. You can also reach out through the Contact page for guidance.
- 10Pricing depends on:Fabric typeSize of damageComplexity of reconstructionTime required Each garment is individually assessed before a quotation is provided. We DO NOT calculate the restoration charge as a percentage of Garment purchase price or Brand value or Designer label or Retail price or Sentimental value.A ₹5,000/- garment can require more restoration work than a ₹100,000/- garment. The quotation reflects the work involved, not the price of the garment.
- 11Yes.Photographs help us provide a preliminary opinion. However, the final assessment and quotation are confirmed only after physical inspection of the garment.
- 12Yes.Clients from across India can securely send garments by courier. Detailed packing instructions will be provided before shipment.
- 13Absolutely.Every garment is handled individually with care and confidentiality. Special attention is given to antique, heirloom and sentimental textiles.
- 14In most cases, NO. Delicate fabrics like silks, handlooms, and embroidered sarees should not be washed at home, as this can cause color bleeding, shrinkage, or more damage. If you are sending cotton or everyday wear garments, a gentle wash is fine, but avoid scrubbing at existing damage.
- 15Invisible mending is a specialised handcraft that involves reconstructing the original fabric thread by thread. Depending on the complexity, a single repair may require several hours of meticulous work, making it fundamentally different from conventional stitching or alterations.
- 16If restoration is not technically feasible or is unlikely to produce a satisfactory result, we will advise you accordingly rather than undertaking work that does not meet our standards.
- 17Simply contact us with clear photographs of the garment and the damaged area. We will provide an initial assessment and guide you through the next steps.
